Preparation for Mission 3119: Oracle of Aeneas has begun! With the official name for mission finally released, it is safe to assume we can give you the plan for Mission so far.
In the simulation still being prepared by the CASA Administrative Team, students will be sent to Venus on the U.S.S. Dove from Earth, where they will land on the Aeneas Station, a large zeppelin-like ship that hovers above the surface of Venus. In the atmosphere, the station has been monitoring as much as they can from the lava-laden surface, but it is not enough.
Those sent to Aeneas on the Dove will board the U.S.S. Virgil on its maiden voyage. Their mission: to go on a pioneering journey to Venus' surface and learn as much as they can about the planet.
Announcements of this mission have already sent sparks of excitement amongst the students, inspiring confidence and posing very interesting questions that the mission will, hopefully, answer.
In the meantime, students have begun to set up their personal projects both based on Mission and based on their own curiosities. Hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics systems with the hopes of being able to provide astronauts with fresh produce in space have begun popping up in the CASA room. Some are researching all possible lifeforms that might appear on Venus. Some are developing new, more effective exercise programs to keep the astronauts healthy.
One student is even attempting to use astrophysics concepts to determine what the CMB Cold Spot is.
The year has just begun, but it is already in full swing. Stay tuned in to see just what the CASA students are working on.
